Today I am going to post one of the emails I received this weekend from a social network follower. She had some questions relating specifically to dealing with an issue caused by an autoimmune disease. I’m editing it a little to remove some personal facts/information that was thrown in, and for typos…because I hate typos 😀
Here we go.
LIZ from FACEBOOK sent in:
‘Hi sorry to just message you like this but I would really like to find out more about your weight loss journey. Especially what you said about reducing inflammation.
I have an auto immume disease which cause inflammation in my arteries so im always looking for natural ways to lower inflammation and beter my metabolism.’
Thanks for the note Liz, and you can always contact me! I’m super passionate about what I’m doing and in trying to help other people reach their own goals. At 39 I was convinced I’d never be anything other than overweight. I’d been 450+ pounds for 20 years at that point. Finally cracking the code to do it was amazing for me and I love sharing it.
I have arthritis in my hand and knee – which is rough for someone training and teaching martial arts. I also get injured a lot. A very close friend of mine has fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis. All of those things deal with a ton of pain caused by inflammation. She was literally in pain nearly every moment of the day.
What we both found that helped an amazing amount were superfoods — basically just foods that are high in ingredients that your normally have to take high doses of medication for. In particular chews from a company called Well & Co. They’ve got chews called RECOVER that contain Turmeric, Bromelain, and Green Lipped Mussel – all of which reduce inflammation in your body and help boost its natural ability to heal.
She went from taking an insane amount of medication daily, to sometimes skipping her medicine (especially her pain and anti-inflammatory ones) completely after about a month of using the chews. It was amazing. For me, it knocked out my hand/knee pain completely and I’m able to teach, train and compete like the arthritis isn’t there any more.
The thing to keep in mind is that these things aren’t going to cure you, but they will help deal with the symptoms of your problem: inflammation, pain, and healing.
OH, to increase your metabolism, check out their BURN chews. That’s what I used to help me get off of Soda (the caffeine crash killed me!) and to increase my metabolism. At 450 pounds, my metabolism was a glacier. Using the Burn chews for a bit allowed me to ramp it up and get moving better. It also helped me get healthy levels of insulin into my body, which was great for a borderline diabetic like I was.
Take care, Liz…and don’t hesitate to message me again!!
